Corpus Sonitus is an interactive installation and audiovisual performance developed as part of an applied artistic research project by Taller 11 at the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia (UPTC). Conceived as a bodily interface that links movement, sound, and symbolic perception, it creates an immersive environment in the form of a three-dimensional musical cube, activated through motion capture using Kinect. Each face of the cube functions as a sound-triggering surface, activated by the user’s body. This installation also serves as the conceptual and technical foundation for Therapp, a later project that adapts the cube’s logic to clinical contexts for physical rehabilitation. In Corpus Sonitus, the focus is on sensory aesthetics, symbolism, and cognitive stimulation through art.

The cube functions as an immersive interface where the four limbs of the body activate sound buttons distributed across each face. Unlike Therapp, there are no timed stimuli along the Z-axis; instead, the front-facing plane acts as a special button that is only triggered upon completing one of the soundscapes.

Each button belongs to one of two soundscapes:
-
The Light Soundscape (white) features binaural music, forest sounds, wind, and a clear voice reciting a Hermetic principle.
-
The Darkness Soundscape (red) includes alarms, screams, distortion, and a coded message delivered in a deep voice.
-
When only the buttons associated with a single soundscape are activated, the front-facing button responds and triggers the final narrative sequence.

The system was prototyped visually in Cinema 4D, developed in Unity with Kinect v2 by an external programmer under my direction, and the sound design was produced in Logic Pro X. The interface translates bodily movement into sound through an interactive logic that blends choreography, composition, and abstract storytelling.

Corpus Sonitus not only invites the body to play, but also to build an experience of interpretation, decision-making, and memory. Activating a soundscape requires the user to remember, avoid hybrid combinations, and construct sonic coherence—generating a complex form of sensory stimulation.
